What? Where? When? How/Why?
Tuesday May 28th
• Dyke March and Rally • SURC Pit •
Rally starts at 12 p.m. March departs at 1:00 pm
Dyke marches are a way to acknowledge women within the Queer Community, increase lesbian visibility and often acknowledge and challenge the precedent that much of Pride events have focused mainly on the white male experience.
Anyone can sign up to perform or speak at the EQuAl table in the SURC or simply show up at the time of the rally in the pit to join in solidarity. Anyone and everyone is welcome to march with us! Grab a sign or a flag and join the group!
• “I Do” Film • SURC Theatre • 6:30 p.m. •
Stepping right into the middle of the marriage equality debate, I Do is the deeply affecting story about a man forced- by discrimination- to make an impossible choice.
This film documents the discrimination faced by Queer immigrants coming to the U.S.
Wednesday May 29th

You do not have to compete; you are more than welcome to just perform for fun.
• Professional Drag Show • SURC Ballroom • 7 p.m. •
Come see our professional Drag Queens perform! Hosted by Jenuwine Beaute & Aquasha DeLusty. Be sure to get there early for good seats. EQuAl will be raffling tickets for 4 front row seats!
• Queen Fling • Prosody Events (4th & Pine St) • Doors open at 9:30 a.m. •
An all-inclusive, all ages dance to celebrate CWU Pride!
This dance provides a safe space for all students and community members to have fun and celebrate their Pride. It is also another excuse to see another Drag performance!
• Lavender Graduation • Mary Grupe • 6:00PM •
Lavender Graduation is a cultural celebration that recognizes LGBTQ students of all races and ethnicities and acknowledges, achievements, and contributions to our campus.
There is a sign-up sheet at the EQuAl table in the SURC if you would like to participate in the ceremony. All are invited.
What is Pride?
LBGTQ Pride is a celebration of sexual diversity and gender variance, taking a positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people to promote their self-affirmation, increase visibility as a social group, and build community.
What is an Ally?
Straight ally is a colloquial term that describes a heterosexual or cisgender person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, LGBTQ social movements, and challenges homophobia and heterosexism. An ally believes that LGBTQ people suffer discrimination and thus are socially disadvantaged. They aim to use their privileged position as straight people in a heterosexist society to fight homophobia and hetero-normativity.
How can I show my pride as a queer person or an ally?
This year at CWU, EQuAl is handing T-Shirts and Pride wristbands to help everyone show their pride. There is also other free rainbow swag that you can sport to show support. At the very least, please participate in the events and get the word out in your classes and communities!
