Residential Meal Plan

Dining Services Statement Regarding COVID-19:

The COVID-19 situation is evolving rapidly, and new decisions are being made at the university, local, county, state, and national level on a daily basis. Dining Services has a flexible plan that will also evolve and adapt to the situation as it develops, to ensure we are providing essential services to the remaining students on our campus.

At this point, due to the current situation, regular Spring quarter hours for dining locations are yet to be finalized and will be determined at a later time. In addition, due to the constant evolution of the current situation, all hours are subject to change without notice.

In an effort to comply with the Governor’s directives and to support the actions to help keep the campus community safe, dining locations will operate as take-out operations only (pending further updates from the Governor’s office). Seating will not be available on-location, and social distancing practices will be enforced in dining areas and markets across campus. Self-serve areas have been converted to service-only areas, and condiments and utensils are available behind the counter upon request.

In addition, per the Kittitas Public Health department order, the SURC will be open to students, faculty, and staff with a valid CWU ID only. All must show their ID at the West patio entrance of the building. SURC dining locations remain open, including Central Marketplace and Cat Trax West/Cats C-Store (see spring break hours for updated hours, subject to change without notice).

Meal Plan Information (Current Residents/Remaining on CWU Campus)

If you currently have a meal plan for Spring 2020, and are currently and continuing to reside in CWU residential space for Spring quarter, no changes will be made to your meal plan unless you request a change. Your Spring meal plan will go into effect on Monday, March 23, 2020. Students who wish to make modifications to their meal plan may do so until Monday, April 13, 2020 through their MyHousing account.

Meal Plan Information (No Longer Residing on CWU Campus)

With the cancellation of your Housing contract, your Spring meal plan will also be automatically canceled. More information can also be found on the Housing and Residence Life website. Students who cancel their Spring meal plan will not be penalized, and charges for early termination will be waived.

Remaining Winter Quarter Dining Dollars (For Students No Longer Residing on CWU Campus)

A final decision about students with remaining Winter quarter dining dollars balances has yet to be made. Either extending the availability of funds or transferring funds to a more flexible method of use is being considered. Please watch for updates via our website notifications, in addition to direct communication to all those impacted.

A decision may be somewhat delayed as we work through more immediate challenges to help ensure the health and safety of our remaining residents, but we will have an answer in time for you to make informed decisions about your on-campus housing future. As information becomes available, we’ll share with all who are impacted.

We know that these are challenging times. If you have any questions, please contact CWU Dining Services at dining@cwu.edu or 509-963-1591.

Updates on COVID19

Residential Meal Plan

2019-2020 Academic Year

Students living on campus are required to have a residential meal plan, per the Room and Board Contract. On-campus residential meal plans are only available to students living in residence halls and in on-campus apartments. Dining Dollars can be used at all dining locations on campus. (Dining Dollars can only be used at dining locations and cannot be used at the Wildcat Shop.)

RESIDENTIAL DISCOUNTS

The meal plan functions as a retail declining balance. Overhead is built into the cost of the plan, and the remaining value of the meal plan, called “Dining Dollars,” can be spent throughout the quarter at all Dining Services locations. Students receive a 65% discount applied at the point of sale at dining locations, and a 25% discount on all purchases at campus cafés and C-store locations. Discounts do not apply to the Liberty Plan.

IMPORTANT MEAL PLAN INFORMATION

For students on a meal plan, the new quarterly meal plan balance will automatically be added to your card at the beginning of each quarter. This dollar amount will be in addition to all remaining dining plan funds left over from the previous quarter.
At the end of each Spring quarter, all remaining Dining Dollars are non-reimbursable, will be forfeited, and will not roll over to Summer or Fall quarters.

MEAL PLAN CHANGES

Meal plans can only be changed at the beginning of each quarter during the add/drop period. Modifications to meal plans can be made online through myCWU or in person at the Connection Card office. (Changes cannot be made over the phone.)

ADD/DROP PERIODS

Winter Quarter: Jan. 7 – Jan. 13
Spring Quarter: Mar. 31 – Apr. 6

APARTMENT PLAN

Students living in a CWU-owned apartment may also elect to participate in a meal plan. Meal plan options for the Apartment Plan are Plan A, B, C, or D. These plans are optional. The same rates and discounts apply.
Students on the Apartment Plan must select their plan each quarter and will not be automatically enrolled in the plan.
Any leftover Dining Dollars will roll over to the following quarter (Fall to Winter, Winter to Spring), even if the student does not enroll in a meal plan the following quarter. All roll-over Dining Dollars must be used the following quarter. At the end of each Spring quarter, all remaining Dining Dollars are null and void and will not roll over to Summer or Fall quarters.
