Central Washington University has hired Andreas Bohman to be the university's assistant vice president of information security.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for my family and me; we feel privileged to become part of such a prestigious institution as Central Washington University,” said Bohman. “I look forward to working with the faculty, staff, and students to develop a comprehensive and inclusive security program that aligns with the strategic vision of the institution.”
Bohman has more than 15 years of experience directing information security and technology programs for government, corporations, and military entities. He currently serves as Director of Infrastructure and Security for NANA Development Corporation in Anchorage, Alaska, a $2.1 billion corporation encompassing more than 11,000 employees and 50 subsidiaries worldwide. He is also a military intelligence officer with the Alaska National Guard. Bohman has a master of science degree in information assurance from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. He is nationally certified at the highest levels of information and cyber security.
A native of Sweden, Bohman came to the United States as an international exchange student. Although he returned to Sweden to complete his studies in engineering, he desired to return to the United States to serve in the military. He enlisted in the Army in the early 1990s and served as an airborne ranger with the 82nd Airborne Division.
In 1999, Bohman left active military duty and continued his career in technology and engineering. He worked as a systems administrator, network engineer, director of information technology for the City of Fairbanks before starting his career at NANA. In 2005, Bohman returned to the military as a signals intelligence and electronic warfare officer in the Alaska National Guard. Currently, Bohman is also a faculty member with the College of Information Systems and Technology at the University of Phoenix. He most recently taught Enterprise Security and Introduction to Information Assurance and Security in their undergraduate program.
Bohman begins work at CWU in June and will report to the vice president for Business and Financial Affairs.
