CWU Communication Professor Wins Top Faculty Paper Award

Central Washington University Communication Professor César García was honored last month with the Top Faculty Paper award during the Northwest Communication Association’s annual conference.

His paper, "Challenging hegemony and power in the sixteenth century: Etienne de La Boétie’s The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude as antecedent of critical public relations theory," was presented as part of a panel on "Closing the Gap by Changing Organizational Roles and Rules" during the April 15-17 virtual conference.

Aside from the prestigious recognition, García received a certificate and a small cash award, along with a formal letter of recognition from Steven Yoshimura, president of the NCA Executive Council.

García is a full professor at Central who received his PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. He specializes in teaching and research on public relations and communication, and has more than a decade of experience in the professional world of public relations for international firms, where he implemented communication programs for global companies. 

García has published more than 30 journal articles as a single author in academic publications such as Public Relations Review, Public Relations Journal, Journal of Communication Management, and International Journal of Strategic Communication.
