ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- In Central Washington University's Central Theatre Ensemble (CTE) presentation of The Tempest, a wizard's beautiful daughter, a long ago injustice, a malicious monster, a bevy of beautiful fairies, a couple of drunk beach bums, and a fateful shipwreck on a mysterious island all come together in Shakespeare's last and most haunting play. Known for its magic, comedy and exotic locale, it is ultimately a story about family and how we say good-bye to those we love.
Director Keith Edie is a professional stage and film actor and much of his stage work has revolved around performing Shakespeare's plays. In addition to being a member of CWU’s Theatre Arts department, Edie is also the artistic director of Ellensburg’s DogTown Theatre Company.
The Tempest will be performed November 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 with a preshow beginning at 7:15 p.m. and curtain at 7:30 p.m. at McConnell Auditorium. There will be a matinee performance with a preshow beginning at 1:45 p.m. and curtain at 2 p.m. on November 18.
