This page is offered as an informational resource to students interested in obtaining health insurance through CWU.
All registered Undergraduate Students taking 6 or more credit hours, Graduate Students taking 3 or more credit hours, Post-Graduate Students taking 1 or more credit hours, Pre-Doctoral Interns, Visiting Scholars, Research Scholars, and International Students/Scholars are eligible to enroll.
All registered Graduate Assistants granted a Graduate Assistantship and taking credit hours are automatically enrolled in the Graduate Assistants coverage and the premium is paid directly by the University for the quarters in which the Graduate Assistantship has been granted, unless elected otherwise.
Once no longer eligible for the Graduate Assistantship, it becomes the Student's responsibility to re-enroll or continue coverage under this policy and pay the premium directly to the Company, if eligible. Graduate Assistants who are not awarded a summer assistantship during the summer quarter will not be enrolled by the University for the summer quarter. Graduate Assistants may enroll directly with the Company for the summer quarter by paying the appropriate premium, provided that the Graduate Assistant was enrolled in the plan for the spring quarter and enrolls in the same plan option for the summer quarter.
Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased. Home study, distance learning, internet classes and television (TV) courses do not fulfill the Eligibility requirements that the student actively attend classes. The Company maintains its right to investigate student status and attendance records to verify that the Eligibility requirements have been met. If the Company discovers the Eligibility requirements have not been met, its only obligation is refund of premium.
Eligible students who enroll may also insure their Dependents. Dependent enrollment must take place at the initial time of student enrollment or beginning with the next enrollment period, with the exception of newborn or adopted children. Dependent means an Insured Student's lawful spouse; or an Insured's unmarried child, from the moment of birth to age 25. Dependent eligibility expires concurrently with that of the Insured student.
Note: Students who receive financial aid may enroll on-line and charge the cost of the insurance premium to their student account by completing their application prior to the last day of add/drop each quarter.
