Welcome to Ellensburg

One of Washington's founding communities, Ellensburg's historic brick downtown is just three blocks from the CWU campus. Downtown places eclectic shops and restaurants next to beautiful and historic buildings, most constructed between 1889 and 1917.

Shoppers can stroll quiet downtown streets and then share a shady bench with the famous Ellensburg Bull.  Relax at a local microbrewery, or swing by the library and find out what new outfit Kit Coyote is sporting. Weekends bring delicious local food and fresh produce, regional crafts, and eclectic entertainment downtown at the Ellensburg Farmers Market. Get to know local artists and enjoy music and refreshments at Ellensburg's First Friday Art Walks.

Ellensburg is home of several of the top arts and cultural events in Washington, including Jazz in the Valley, Buskers in the "Burg, and Winterhop Brewfest.

Ellensburg is situated in the heart of breathtaking natural beauty. The Yakima River Canyon offers world-class fishing and hiking through ancient basalt cliffs. Skiiers and off-roaders are close to spectacular countryside in the Cascade Mountains, Stuart Mountains, and nearby state and national forests. The Columbia River is 30 minutes from Ellensburg, just right for a day water skiing and fishing, visiting wineries, or taking in a concert at the world-famous Gorge Amphitheatre.
