About me:
I joined the CWU Family and Child Life program in 2012 and am thrilled to be part of such a dynamic and dedicated team of faculty. I earned my PhD in Human Development and Family Studies at Oregon State University and my research interests include health and well-being among rural low-income families, maternal and child well-being among Latinx families, as well as the transition to adulthood. Originally from the Puget Sound area, I am happy to make my home in the Pacific Northwest. I do miss the trees from the west side of the mountains, but not the rain or traffic. I grew up using American Sign Language at home and studied abroad in Mexico, so I can converse in both ASL and Spanish (though not at the same time!).
