Wildcat Day - Online

Thank you to all our stakeholders and everyone who signed up to participate in this year’s Wildcat Day. Due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, we are shifting Wildcat Day to an online format or virtual wildcat experiencesThis decision was not taken lightly and follows consultation with public health officials regarding social distancing for preventing the spread of the outbreak. With the rapid change and evolving information, we are working on details. Please see below for our initial plan.

The virtual wildcat experiences will highlight and inform incoming students on financial aid, housing, academics, student involvement, placement testing, campus life and more. Over a series of videos and live streaming students can interact with faculty, staff, resources, and current students!

Wildcat Wednesdays*
Wednesday, starting April 8th through April 29th from 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Orientation and Transition Programs will partner with students and CWU campus resources to discuss topics that will assist students in their transition to Central! Students will be able to check their email or each week for the topic for the following week. We have begun our outreach to specific departments and will continue to confirm the virtual Wildcat Wednesday schedule.

Virtual Wildcat Day*
We are encouraging students and their support networks to attend our virtual Wildcat Day on April 17th from 11:00am - 4:00pm! There will be a new session every 30 minutes. Students will learn from CWU campus resources and get their questions answered in real time! We hope to include the following topics in our final schedule: Housing & Dining, Financial Aid, Student Life, Academic Programs, Placement Testing, First-year success tips, and Transfer student tips. These topics match the majority of information that would have been covered during an in-person Wildcat Day.

As we continue to look into the future, we see the potential need to reimagine Links Orientation for incoming fall students using virtual tools and reconsidering past practices. Our goal is to utilize learning objectives for these events to establish key stakeholders and begin working with them to create parallel experiences until a final decision regarding our events scheduled in July is made. We will keep you updated as we are made aware of decisions impacting orientation experiences.
