New Sustainability Coordinator

University Operations is excited to announce the hire of our sustainability coordinator, Kathleen Klaniecki. Our university is committed to environmental sustainability and we have seen a number of positive developments over the last several years. With this position, there is further opportunity to coordinate efforts across multiple divisions and more potential to collaborate and strengthen the work many are already doing. CWU students and employees have innovative environmental sustainability ideas and the motivation to make meaningful change in this community.

Kathleen will be joining CWU beginning January 2nd, 2020. She brings five years of experience implementing sustainability programs, a PhD in Sustainability Science, a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies, a M.Sc. in Environmental Science, and was the sustainability program coordinator at Lehigh University.

Her experience dovetails wonderfully with President Gaudino’s goal to reduce our carbon footprint and support sustainability efforts. Referencing this goal, Klaniecki says meeting it “will require an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental approach that includes consideration of academics, operations, and administrative practices. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, and faculty to build a shared sustainability vision and a roadmap to meet these sustainability goals.”

Join us in welcoming Kathleen to Central. We look forward to seeing her leadership skills shape the future of our environmental sustainability strategies on campus.
