How Leaders Can Make Meetings Matter (SEP067)
March 5, 2021 | 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Zoom Meeting
For leaders at all levels: staff, faculty, and students employees
Have you ever sat bored in a meeting and calculated the cost of that hour for the organization? Don’t. You won’t be happy. Have you ever scheduled a meeting and just before beginning thought “why are we here again?” You might think you know how to run a meeting…does your team agree? In this talk, Dr. Avey will walk through the basics of running a meeting. While this seems like a normal part of organizational life the leader has an opportunity to invest or waste time with every click of the Outlook meeting invite. First, Dr. Avey will cover why most people loathe meetings and what to do about it. Next, he will cover basic meeting and communication tactics before, during, and after a meeting. Finally, he will describe different types of meetings and actions that can be taken to make them better. This is not theoretical. This is everyday practice.
