Notice Type:
Notices

After a 2-year battle with cancer, former CWU physics professor Sharon Rosell passed away on July 3, 2020. During her 25 year career at CWU, she taught thousands of students about the wonders of physics, receiving a Distinguished Faculty Teaching award in 2011. She advised the award-winning Society of Physics Students club for most of her time at CWU, receiving national recognition as the Outstanding Chapter Advisor in 2013. In 2014, the physics department started presenting the Sharon Rosell Leadership Award, given anually to the physics student "who demonstrates exceptional leadership within the physics community". When Professor Rosell retired in 2014, she was granted Emeritus status by the Board of Trustees.

We remember Professor Rosell as an outstanding teacher, but to her ten younger siblings, 30 nieces and nephews, and 39 great nieces and nephews, Sherry was a loving sister, aunt, and great aunt. The family is in the process of organizing a memorial mass at Saint Andrew's Catholoc Church in Ellensburg. For more information about when this will be scheduled, email Bruce.Palmquist@cwu.edu. You will find the obituary at https://legcy.co/30iDrvF.
