What is pretexting?

A form of social engineering where someone lies to get something they want. For example, someone pretends to be someone like your supervisor or the president of the university to get you to do something for them or give them something


What does pretexting look like?

This is just one example of what pretexting looks like please be aware it may come as a request for a wire transfer, credit card number, or personal information.

What should I do if I get a pretexting email?

First, do not respond to the email! Second, report the message to or Finally, mark the email as junk and block the sender.
