CWU Academic Success Center Staff Named to Regional Leadership Posts

Molly Rathbone, CWU’s Peer-Assisted Learning (PALs) program manager, has been named president-elect of the Northwest chapter of the College Reading and Learning Association .

CRLA is active in reading, learning assistance, developmental education, tutoring, and peer education at the college and adult levels. It provides a forum for the interchange of ideas, methods, and information to improve learning and to facilitate members’ professional growth.

As the president-elect, Rathbone will assist the chapter’s five-member board in short- and long-term planning and facilitate a series of scheduled CRLA virtual events. Next year, she will serve as board president.

Leah Shelton, Academic Success Center Outreach and Development manager, is also the new treasurer for the Northwest division of CRLA.

Shelton received her Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from CWU in 2004.

Chuck Zimchek, Career Services career counselor for the College of the Sciences, now serves as the membership committee chair and Central Washington Chapter committee co-chair for the Washington Career Development Association.

WCDA seeks to cultivate career knowledge and encourage innovation by providing training opportunities, encouraging collaboration and a sense of community, promoting public understanding, inspiring innovation and research, and raising awareness.

Zimchek is a former president and past-president of the association.
