The Diversity and Equity Center and the Beyond HB1079 Organization are inviting you to attend the 7th Annual Beyond HB1079 Conference on Saturday, October 5 in the SURC.  We are doing a call for workshop proposals due by September 15.  House Bill 1079 allows for undocumented/DACAmented students to pay for in-state tuition.  We knot that this is not enough.  There are undocumented students who need additional resources in order to pursue higher education.  At this conference, attendees will learn what resources are available and how to continue to support our undocumented/DACAmented students.  There will be a student track, a parent track, and an educator’s track.  Contact Veronica Gomez-Vilchis if you have questions at 509-963-2122 or via email at  Registration for the conference is free for the CWU campus community.

Workshop proposals must fall under the following topics: policy and legislation awareness, resource and services, education, intersectionality, development, mental health, organizing and mobilizing, student and family, and empowerment. If you would like to present on any other topics they must be relevant to our audience: undocumented students and their families, as well as, ally educators and community members.

Each of the sessions should fall under one of our conference themes. The themes are:
• Awareness / Rights / Advocacy
• Access to Higher Education & Resources
• Empowering / Mentorship
