September 4, 2017 Update on CWU Flight Training Program

We are currently 15 days away from starting Fall quarter and the Aviation Department is busy! We would like to share with you our latest news.  September 1st CWU Aviation took possession of 6 leased aircraft from Midstate Aviation.  These 5 Piper Warriors and 1 Arrow will be used to train our incoming freshmen class in the Private pilot course.  The Piper Arrow, which is a complex aircraft, will be used for Flight Instructor course training.

Several new staff have been added to the ranks.  We would like to welcome aboard Rich Bates (Assistant Chief Flight Instructor), Lisa Broweleit as our new Program Support Supervisor, Diecoh Florentine and Michael Reveles (student dispatchers), and Chris Pratz as our IT Systems Administrator.  This dedicated team and other key staff members have been very busy learning and implementing our new flight school software to get ready for the upcoming school year.  The following graduates have been hired as CWU’s first instructors: David Schmidt, Corwynn Vander Pool, Rebekah Butler, William White, Adam Houlne, Gianni Borelli, and Jim Libenow.

Mike and Becky Montgomery (our new mechanics) are busy outfitting our maintenance shop with tools and equipment in order to service our new fleet of aircraft.  CWU will be doing all our own aircraft maintenance starting this fall.  Lastly, please welcome our new student line technicians Scott Horton and Chris Philips.

We hope everyone has gotten to enjoy a few fun activities this summer. The Aviation Department is excited to start the new school year and begin flight training our new students September 20th!
