Important Dates

2017-2018 Election: Important Dates

 


Monday -March 31st, 2017
Candidate Registration is available at www.cwu.edu/ascwu/elections. Background check forms and elections packets will be sent to the registered candidate via their CWU email address.
Filing begins, return completed packet to the Student Involvement Administrative Office in SURC 263 between (*9:00 am - 4:00 pm).


Monday - April 10th, 2017
Filing closes. Return completed packet to the Student Involvement Office SURC 263 before 4:00 p.m. (Time based on SURC 263 office clock) Background checks due for primary and general election. Background check must be submitted to Student Employment within 24 hours of submitting candidate packet.


Tuesday – April 11th, 2017
Campaign Kick-Off/Info Session. This is an essential meeting for all candidates, their campaign managers, and designees. Photos will be taken of the candidates and advertising begins directly after the meeting. Also following the kick off, candidates who are running for President and Vice President for Legislative Affairs will meet the Organizing Director from Washington Student Association (WSA). Before and after meeting, there may be an optional taping of candidate videos, so please come prepared with 150 word statement that is rehearsed and memorized.


Monday – April 17th, 2017
Primary Candidates Debate in SURC 6-8 P.M.  This is a chance for candidates to answer questions in an organized, and professional matter from a moderator. Candidates will also be allowed to provide counter arguments to their opponents as well as an opening and closing statement.


Tuesday – April 18th, 2017
Primary Voting begins at 12:01 A.M


Wednesday-    April 19th, 2017
Official Campaign Day. All campaigns are expected to setup a table in the SURC to not only promote their own campaign, but the ASCWU Election turnout as a whole. This is your last chance to make an impression to the student body for the Primary Election.


Thursday - April 20th, 2017
Primary Election Ends/Results. Following the closing of the voting period, the Elections commission will count the ballots and inform candidates about the results before posting. LAST CALL AT 7 P.M!


Monday – April 24th, 2017
SURC 301,  5-7pm
Equity Service Council (ESC) Forum. Please come dressed professionally and prepared to answer question specific to your position as outlined in the ASCWU-SG Constitution & By Laws.


Wednesday- April 26th, 2017
SURC 137 A&B,  7-9pm
Club Senate Forum. Please come dressed professionally and prepared to answer question specific to your position as outlined in the ASCWU-SG Constitution.


Tuesday -May 2nd, 2017

Black 151,  7-8pm
Student Academic Senate (SAS) Forum. Please come dressed professionally and prepared to answer question specific to your position as outlined in the ASCWU-SG Constitution & By-Laws see the ASCWU-SG website.

Tuesday -May 9th, 2017
SURC Pit, 6-8pm
Public Forum. The public forum will allow for candidates to be asked questions from the student body in a town hall fashion.


Wednesday - May 17th, 2017
Wellingtons,  6-8pm
Please arrive before 6:00pm 
Residence Hall Association (RHA) Forum. Please come dressed professionally and prepared to answer question specific to your position as outlined in the ASCWU-SG Constitution & By-laws see the ASCWU-SG website.


Tuesday– May 23rd, 2017

SURC Pit,  6-8pm
General Election Candidates Debate. This will be a moderated event. Candidates will also be allowed to provide counter arguments to their opponents as well as an opening and closing statement.
Online voting will begin at 12:01am on 5/24 and close at 7:00pm


Wednesday – May 24th, 2017

Voting tables 9am-7pm
General Election Voting
Polling tables opens at 9:00am and close at 7:00 pm


Friday – May 26th, 2017
Final day to submit campaign receipts
By 4 p.m. in SURC 263.


Tuesday – May 30th, 2017
Last day to file a grievance
4 p.m. in SURC 263.

Polling sites open at the Ellensburg Main campus at the East and West entrances of the Student Union and Recreation Center from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Online voting closes at 8:00 pm. Preliminary results posted by 11:59 pm.

Tuesday – May 3, 2016
Meet the Student Government Candidates in SURC pit, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Students will have the chance to meet with candidates and ask questions.

Wednesday - May 4, 2016
Election Debate in SURC Pit at 6:00 pm
