2019-2020 ASCWU Elections Calendar & Commitments

Monday, March 25, 2019: Campaign Kick-Off/Info Session (4:30pm – 6:00pm in SURC 137)

  • This is an essential meeting for all candidates, their campaign managers, and designees. Photos will be taken of the candidates and advertising begins directly after the meeting. Candidates MUST arrive at 4:30pm for their photos.

Wednesday, March 27, 2019: Residence Hall Association Candidate Introduction Session

  • Please come dressed professionally and prepared to give a two-minute introduction speech about yourself and why you are interested in running for Student Government.
  • 6:00pm – Wellington Event Center

Wednesday, March 27, 2019: Club Senate Introduction Session

  • Please come dressed professionally and prepared to give an introduction speech about yourself and why you are interested in running for Student Government.
  • 7:00pm – SURC Theatre       

Tuesday, April 2, 2019: Student Academic Senate Candidate Introduction Session

  • Please come dressed professionally and prepared to give an introduction speech about yourself and why you are interested in running for Student Government.
  • 6:00pm−Science II 103

Wednesday, April 3, 2019: Equity Service Council (ESC) Candidate Introduction Session

  • Please come dressed professionally and prepared to give an introduction speech about yourself and why you are interested in running for Student Government.
  • 2:00pm — Black Hall 105

Tuesday, April 9, 2019: Primary Election Voting begins at 12:01 A.M – 6:00P.M via Online

  • 9:00am – 6:00pm Onsite (SURC) *if needed

Monday, April 15, 2019: Official Campaign Day & ASCWU Candidate Fair

Thursday, April 25, 2019: General Election Voting Begins

  • 12:01 A.M – 6:00P.M. via Online
  • 9:00am – 6:00pm Onsite (SURC)

Primary Election (April 9):

The purpose of the Primary Election shall be to decrease the number of candidates for each position to only two (2) candidates per position. In the case of a tie, a special runoff election will occur a week after between the tied candidates.

General Election (April 25):

The General Elections shall occur after the Primary Election; only those candidates who are eligible after the Primary Election shall appear on the ballot.  The candidates for the Student Government positions who receive a plurality (the number of votes exceeds that of the closest opponent) of votes shall be declared the winner of that position.  

In the case of a tie in the General Election, a runoff election shall be called to resolve the tie and determine a winner seven (7) days following the General Election.
Candidates will be informed about the results before they are made public
