Fight The Bite! Zika, Tattooing, and Health in American Samoa.
How can marriage and tattooing improve your health? In this talk Dr. Michaela Howells uses her field experience in American Samoa to explore why married women are less likely to get Zika, and tattooed people may have stronger immune systems. Using a bio-cultural anthropological approach she discusses how the bite of the mosquito or the bite of the needle can have unexpected health consequences.
