We have officially entered Homecoming month at CWU! While Homecoming week events will look different this year, we are eager to share several opportunities for you to connect with alumni and the Wildcat family virtually.
The Alumni Association Board Engagement Committee invites you to a virtual happy hour social on October 15. You can join from wherever you may be with your favorite beverages and snacks to reconnect with Wildcats during this virtual “drop-in” social hour! Registration is required, so RSVP today and the Zoom link and password will be emailed to you.
As Homecoming week continues, we invite you to join Virtual Goat Yoga on October 16, with CWU alumna and Wobbly Ranch owner, Amanda Leone, and the Nash Fung Magic Show, performed by CWU alumnus and fan-favorite Nash Fung on October 17. Both events will be hosted on Zoom and require registration, which can be completed by visiting cwu.edu/homecoming.
We are also looking forward to sharing a CWU Alumni Association update on future programs that are being developed to better serve our members during our Annual Members Meeting from 4:30-5:00 p.m. on October 16. Please join the live meeting by visiting this meeting link.
As we look ahead to the future, we extend the invitation to support 2021 graduates by providing financial assistance that makes their dream of walking in commencement come true through our newly established Cap & Gown scholarship fund. A gift of $100 will provide a student with their cap and gown, along with a one-year alumni association membership. If you know a student that is graduating this spring that could use assistance, encourage them to apply today.
Don’t miss the opportunity to nominate a deserving CWU alum for the 2021 Distinguished Alumni Awards! You can nominate for three different awards: 4 Under 40, Distinguished Alumni, and Legacy. Descriptions of each award, and the nomination forms, can be found by visiting cwu.edu/alumni/alumni-awards. Nominations close November 1, so nominate the deserving alums you know today!
You can also honor the accomplishments of CWU alumni by nominating them year-round for the new Trail Blazer Award. This award honors alumni who have committed over 25 years in an industry, causing systemic change in the workplace, and who have paved the way for others to follow. Please visit our awards page for more information and to nominate a Wildcat today.
If you missed the Young Alumni Philanthropy Webinar yesterday, you still have a chance to watch it and catch all that you missed! It’s posted on our webinar webpage, which also includes our Alumni Webinar Series that you can watch for free. We look forward to bringing you a new webinar next month and will keep our social media and webpage updated with new registration information when we have it.
We are still seeking alumni owned or operated businesses to promote on our social media. If you would like to be featured, or if you want to nominate somebody to be featured, please fill out our questionnaire. Thank you to those who have already submitted responses, and we look forward to hearing from more of you. For more Wildcat business resources, please visit cwu.edu/alumni/wildcat-business.
We hope to see many of you virtually during Homecoming week, and hope you, your family, and loved one’s are staying healthy and safe during this time. Go Cats!
