Transfer Student

You've attended college and have earned 40 or more college credits.

Steps to Apply

  1. Complete and submit your official application for admission. 

    Every advantage goes to the early applicant.
  2. Submit a non-refundable $50 application fee
.
    If applying online, you must submit the fee through your application portal.


    CWU will accept the College Board or ACT fee waiver, or you may submit the CWU Request for Application Fee Waiver form and accompanying documentation.
  3. Submit an official transcript. 
    
Submit a transcript from all colleges attended, current through the time of application. Transcripts will be considered official only when sent directly from the institution to Central Washington University via address below. Final official transcripts must be submitted upon completion of course of study and must include graduation date. NoteHomeschool students and international students have special instructions for high school transcripts.

  4. Submit your scores from the SAT or ACT.
    
This applies only if you have completed less than 40 transferable quarter credits post-high school.

Admission Requirements

Please note the following admission requirements for transfer students.

  • Generally, transfer students who have completed at least 40 college-level transferable credits with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and/or have earned a Washington State community college Direct Transfer Associates Degree will be admissible.
  • If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.49, your application will go through the Comprehensive Review Process. Applicants may be required to complete supplemental application forms, submit additional information and an essay.
  • If you have fewer than 40 quarter credits post high school, then you will need to provide CWU with your test scores, college and high school transcripts.

Community College Transfers

Washington Transfer Students

  • Generally, transfer students who have completed at least 40 college-level transferable credits with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and/or have earned a Washington State community college Direct Transfer Associates Degree will be admissible.
  • If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.49, your application will go through the Comprehensive Review Process.

Out of State Transfer Students
Students may transfer up to 135 quarter credits to CWU, with a maximum of 105 credits from lower division (100-200 level) courses. In general, CWU will accept credits earned at other accredited institutions.

  1. Generally, transfer students who have completed at least 40 college-level transferable credits with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and/or have earned a Washington State community college Direct Transfer Associates Degree will be admissible
  2. If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.49, your application will go through the Comprehensive Review Process.
