About our Accounting Undergraduate Program

Accounting tells a business whether it’s making a profit, what its flow is, what the current value of its assets and liabilities is, and which parts of the business are actually generating revenue. By studying accounting, you'll develop the ability to ensure corporations behave responsibly.

Why Study Accounting at CWU? 

Our Accounting program is among the highest-ranked in the State of Washington and is offered at multiple CWU locations, at an affordable rate with multiple scholarship options. The hands-on curriculum is designed by experienced faculty to meet industry demands. Students in the Accounting programs, both the major and the minor, will have access to all the resources that the CWU College of Business has to offer, including the CAT Center for Career Counselling, Academic Advising and Tutoring Services, and the CB Engagement Corner for student engagement opportunities. 


Degree Explanations 

Accounting courses are offered at Ellensburg, Des Moines, Lynnwood and Yakima locations. 

Opportunities and experiences that set our accounting program apart include:  

  • Ease of transfer: Students with an Associate of Business- DTA degree can easily transfer into the BS in Accounting program. View our Transfer Map
  • Exam readiness: BS graduates with certain electives can prepare to sit for exams for the following exams:  
    • Certified Management Accounting (CMA)  
    • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)  
    • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)  
    • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)  
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • AACSB accreditation: Our College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), an organization that recognizes only the top 5% of business schools around the world.
