Student Support Services
Your Success Is Our Goal!
Mission
TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded project established at Central Washington University to help students achieve their post-secondary academic ambitions. Students are encouraged to complete their undergraduate studies and, whenever feasible, continue to graduate school. The TRIO Student Support Services program is committed to making college a rewarding and successful experience for each student participant.
About Student Support Services
The purpose of Student Support Services is to increase the retention and graduation rates of low income students, first-generation students, and students with disabilities at Central Washington University. This is accomplished by providing supportive services such as academic action plans (ISP), tutoring, and monitoring of student academic progress. Participants are eligible to utilize academic success workshops, mentoring, and college success courses. A main focus is on academic, financial, and graduate school advisement.
TRIO Promotes Financial Literacy
We inform students about the financial aid process and loan options available and assist them in making educated personal financial choices to fund their post-secondary education.
TRIO Shortens the Time to Degree Completion
Compared to their low-income peers, TRIO students are 50% more likely to attain a bachelor's degree and 16% more likely to graduate in five years.
TRIO Provides Grant Aid
We provide information on college fee waivers and provide grant aid to students to subsidize the costs of college.
