One of the goals of ATMS is to provide CWU learning spaces that meet the classroom technology standards outlined in the the Audio/Visual Distribution Design Guide (AVDG) of 2012/updated in 2017.
CWU has adopted ANSI S12.60-2002 American National Standard Acoustical Performance Criteria, Design Requirements, and Guidelines for Schools. Audio/Visual system designers and installers adhere to the guidelines published by the International Communications Industries Association, Inc.
Through funding support from the university, a classroom technology upgrade project began in late 2017. Twenty-one classrooms in Black Hall (vintage 1998 technology) were upgraded to digital technology standards by the end of calendar year 2018. With collaboration from campus partners, these upgrades occured throughout the academic year utilizing "hot swap" classrooms.
Classroom upgrades will continue as funding permits.
