The Northwestern Association for
Behavior Analysis

The Northwestern Association for Behavior Analysis (NWABA) is an independent, non-profit, professional organization affiliated with the Association for Behavior Analysis International. We are dedicated to the science of behavior and its application to social issues. Our members live and work in the northwestern United States and western Canada.

A Brief History of NWABA

NWABA was only a gleam in the eyes of its founders who gathered in Victoria, BC and Seattle, WA in the late 1980s. This group of behavior analysts included Judy Agnew, Craig Jensen, Dick Malott, Sam Leigland, Joe Parsons, Michael Peters, David Polson, and Lars Watson. After a brief period of inactivity (2003-2008), NWABA is again an active participant among the affiliates of the Association for Behavior Analysis International.

The first NWABA conference was held at The Inn at the Market in Seattle from October 27-29, 1989. Presenters included: Carol Naumann, Vikki Howard, Betty Fry Williams, Duane Lundervold, Randy Lee Williams, Sam Leigland, Michael Peters, Robert Kohlenberg, Craig Jensen, Steven Heldorn, Loran Acker, Judy Agnew, Joe Parsons, Stephanie Stein, James Walsh, Charles Lund, and many others.
