Windows XP/Secure W2

SecureW2 is a plug-in for the Windows Wireless zero Configuration Service. It can be installed on all computers running Windows 2000 (service pack 4 required) and Windows XP. Since it isn't a separate utility, wireless connections are configured within the Wireless Networks tab located under Properties for your Wireless Network Connection. If your laptop supports it, you may prefer to use Intel PROSet to connect to CWU Wireless.

Intel Proset

Intel PROSet is a wireless utility installed on several brands of laptops which use the Intel wireless chipset and can be used as an alternative to SecureW2. As a separate utility, it takes over control of your wireless connection from Windows. It is accessed as an entry in your Programs list and networks are configured within the program.

Intel PROSet 11.5 generic installer

This is Intel's latest upgrade for PROSet. However, it doesn't include brand specific hardware upgrades. If your version of PROSet is older than 9.4, we recommend downloading the latest upgrade for your chipset from the manufacturer's website (see installation instructions for links).

Linux

We are currently in the process of developing a Linux solution for the CWU wireless network and have created a forum where Linux users can read what others have done and post their own contributions/suggestions. Please take a look and let’s demonstrate how open source collaboration works: www.cwu.edu/wireless/suggestions/linuxforum.html
