Prime for Life
Prime for Life is a ten-hour educational curriculum that focuses on the prevention of alcohol related health, impairment and addiction problems. The Prime for Life curriculum was developed for a higher education student population, using research based data and theories of prevention and evaluation of risk factors in the development of alcohol related problems.

Participants will review historical theories as well as the current research based concepts of predicting risk for alcohol problems. Individual genetic and biological risks will be qualified with corresponding low-risk quantity and frequencyalcohol consumption guidelines.

All participants will receiveinformation of strategiesfor assessing their personal health and genetic risks as well as the reduction of their alcohol consumptionto lower their risks, if indicated by the research.

Staffing for the delivery of the Prime of Life curriculum is a collaborative project between Residential Living and NewStudent Programs, Student Affairs and Student Health and Counseling Wellness Services.

Local authorities are invited to use this educational programas a part of sentencing and recommendations for services.

Cannabis Central

The goal of the Wildcat Wellness Marijuana class is to better educate students regarding the possible negative effects of marijuana, especially as it relates to academic performance.

Cognitive Objectives: Students will be able to describe three key negative effects of their personal marijuana use.
Affective Objectives: Students will:
  • Believe that marijuana has the potential to impair their academic performance.
  • Accept that smoking marijuana has a negative health effect.
Psychomotor Objectives: Students will be able to:
  • Complete a personal use assessment
  • Know how to access help
