Introduction to Blackboard 8
Blackboard 8
is an easy-to-use course management system with tools that enable
instructors to provide their students with course materials, discussion
boards, online assessments, assignments, grades and more.
During this 1 hour workshop you will learn how to organize and upload content to your Blackboard
course. To build on this foundation please see additional offerings below. For information on instructional
design issues relating to converting a traditional course to an online
course please make an appointment with Jane Chinn, Instructional Technologies

Digital Assignment Submission (Replaces Digital Dropbox in Version 8) Prerequisite: Intro to Blackboard
Learn to use the Assignment Feature which was designed as an improvement on the Digital Dropbox.
When you set up an assignment with the Assignment tool it automatically creates an entry in the Gradebook. In the Gradebook you
are then able to download all digital assignments sent from students at once rather than one at a time as required when using the Digital Dropbox.
In addition it is possible to "select all" and delete all digital assignment files at once if needed.
During this session you will learn the features of the Gradebook in Blackboard, as well. Time permitting you will learn creative ways to use the Discussion Board and Group Pages.

Teach Online with Bb's DiscussionBoard
Learn how to use the Discussion Board to promote interactivity in the online learning environment.

Creating Online Tests for Blackboard
Do you tire of typing questions one at a time in the forms provided
in Blackboard to create your quizzes? Learn to use Respondus, a special tool
developed for faculty teaching with Blackboard by a company called
Respondus. By following several simple rules you can generate entire
quizzes in a word processor and transfer them with ease into your
Blackboard course. Learn ways to prevent cheating. CWU now has a site license for Respondus and after the training you will receive instructions on how to download a free copy for your use.

SafeAssign - Plagiarism Prevention for Assignments in Bb
Learn how to create a SafeAssing Assignment for student submission in Bb. After submission every paper
is returned in the form of a customized Originality Report. Results are based on exhaustive searches of billions
of pages from both current and archived instances of the internet,
student papers previously submitted to SafeAssign, and commercial databases of journal articles and periodicals.

Learn to use Adobe Presenter in Microsoft PowerPoint to record audio to publish to your Blackboard course. This is an excellent tool for providing lectures in your online courses.
