Their panel, entitled "Water in the World's Most Populous Nation: Economic Development, Social Change, and Resource Management in Northwest China," was chaired by Dr. James Cook (History). |

| News: | On March 17, Mikelle, Gregory and Peter presented research papers at the 12th Annual Meeting of the Asian Studies Development Program in Nashville, TN. Their panel, entitled "Environmental Impacts of Economic Growth in Northwest China and the Policy Responses to These Impacts," was co-chaired by Richard Mack (Economics) and Robbie Soltz (Biological Sciences). Each presentation focused on the research undertaken last summer in Shaanxi Province, PRC, through the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates grant administered by Mack, Soltz and James Cook (History). |

| News: | On March 18, Cummings and Dippmann chaired a panel and presented at the 12th Annual Meeting of the Asian Studies Development Program in Nashville, TN. Their panel, entitled "Infusing Southeast Asian Studies Into the Middle and High School Curriculum of Washington State," featured presentations by Teresa Ramirez (Adna Middle/High School) and Ann Marie DeCollibus (Ferndale High School), two of the participants in last summer's four week Fulbright-Hays Study Abroad Program in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. The presentations illustrated how Teresa and Ann Marie have incorporated the experience into their own curriculum. The Fulbright-Hays grant was administered by Cummings, Dippmann, and James Cook (History). |
