Web Development: Uploading Web Pages |
To Upload Web Pages, Follow These Steps:See important note for Mac users.
See an Example(1) Let's say I wanted to update a Web page called uploading_pages.html. (2) I start my Dreamweaver program, open my local copy of the file, uploading_pages.html, and make any needed changes. When I am done editing, I save the changes. Next, I open Windows Explorer (or My Computer) and browse to where this local copy resides. In this example, my files are located on the C: drive in a folder called Web Files. ![]() (4) Highlight the file you want to update by single-clicking the file. Then copy this file by going to Edit —> Copy. ![]() (5) Next, you will need to browse to where you live Web documents are stored. For most departments, your Web pages are stored on Zeus, which will appear as an I: drive. In this directory, you should see a folder with your department name on it. Inside of the department folder, you should see another folder called public_html. ![]() (6) The next step is for you to paste the file you previously copied into this folder by going to Edit —> Paste. ![]() (7) Last, you will see a window appear informing you that a file with this name already exists. It asks whether or not you want to overwrite the existing file. Yes, we want to overwrite this file with the file we have just edited. ![]() (8) That's it! You can now check your Website to make sure that the changes
have indeed been implemented. If you do not see the changes right away, try refreshing your
