| News: | “PS – I Love You,” a 10-minute play by Madeleine Cartwright, a senior theatre arts performance major, was chosen for presentation at the 2008 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Region VII. In a field of nearly 70 scripts submitted to this year's contest, Maddie’s has been chosen as one of six to advance to the finals. The scripts were chosen by a panel of experts in Region II (mid-Atlantic region), who read the scripts "blind" (without any knowledge of the authors or schools who submitted). At this year's festival in Laramie, WY, award-winning student directors will cast and rehearse the plays, which will then be presented as staged readings. The winners of the regional 10-minute Play Contests are eligible to participate in a similar process at the National KCACTF Festival in Washington, DC in April. |

| News: | I just wanted to let you know that I was recently hired on as the technical theatre and design instructor at Renton High School and have also been brought on as the Technical Director at the IKEA Performing Arts Center, our performance space which doubles as a very busy rental theater. Right now I am very busy developing a brand-new curriculum and managing the theater. There is no drama program here, but hopefully next year I will be helping to get that started up again as well. Also, as you may know, I got married last August and (big news) now my wife and I are expecting our first child this June! Yeah, life for me is a little bit exciting. I miss everyone at CWU and am so thankful for the knowledge I gained in ALL areas of theatre while I was there, I use it every day! I hope all is well there, I hope to come over sometime before the end of the year so I will have to stop in. |

Name: | Holly O'Hara | Hometown: | Department: | Theatre Arts |
| News: | This past summer Holly worked for Des Moines Metro Opera as Assistant Set Designer, Scenic Coordinator and Charge Artist. It was a great experience and she has fallen even more in love with opera.
Most recently O'Hara accepted a position at Exclusive Events, Inc in St. Louis, MO. The company is an award winning year round events and production company that designs events from fashion shows, tv, galas, casinos, opera, theatre, weddings, and the list goes on and on. O'Hara holds the position of Resident Charge Artist/Assistant Set Designer and occasionally Set Designer. In addition, she does freelancing in a variety of areas such as graphic design, gobo design and Scenic Consultant/Charge Artist for such things as production at the American Youth Ballet.
With the industry being highly competitive, she took several graphic design and web design classes to keep up in the industry. The company is currently paying for her to go to a few seminars at Cobalt Studios to keep up on the latest trends and continue her growth as a scenic artist. If you are interested in seeing some of her work, she in the processes of writing the code for my own website and currently use http://www.facebook.com/l/e79c62Qg4eZYpbD6iHaOLlqdMzQ/hollyohara.daportfolio.com. Her resume lists only a fraction of what events she does with Exclusive Events but still gives a good idea of just how busy she really is.
Overall, it been quite the adventure since graduating from CWU and she is enjoying the variety of new challenges everyday. |
