News:Wes Morrow will present his paper "Me, Myself, and My Avatar" at the Puget Sound Undergraduate Philosophy Conference, at the University of Puget Sound, March 30-31, 2012. Wes' paper (which is the main part of the thesis he wrote for his Philosophy major) is one of only 8 student papers selected for the conference.

News:In fall 2010, the Philosophy & Religious Studies Department sponsored three teams at the regional tournament of the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, more than any other university in the region. With the help of their coaches, Dr. Altman and Dr. Beauclair, all three teams had at least one win, and one team (named "Moral Kombat") came in third.

News:A team of students from the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department participated in the regional tournament of the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl on Saturday, November 15. The team came in third place, ahead of teams from such schools as the University of Washington, Washington State University, and Seattle University. The third place finish may qualify them to compete in the national tournament in March 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

News:Katie Jacobson's article, "'No Such Thing as a Buddhist Woman': Male Perception of Women Seers in Buddhism," has been published in the Fall 2011 volume of the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa (Vol. 35, No. 2, 24-41). The Journal is the official publication of TAK, the National Honor Society for Religious Studies and Theology, and was chosen by the editors as an exemplary work submitted by undergraduate students.
