News:CALL FOR LATINO ART STUDENTS—DEADLINE FOR ART SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS IS APRIL 15, 2007 Seattle, Washington – Centro Cultural Hispano Americano is soliciting applications for its Enrique Henao Art Scholarship program. Local Hispanic/Latino student artists are encouraged to apply through April 15, 2007. Qualified candidates will be Washington State residents studying arts full-time at the university level in this state and have at least a 3.2 grade point average. Candidates will be judged on a variety of criteria including academic performance, community service, leadership potential, and financial need. The scholarships will be awarded on Saturday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Washington HUB Auditorium, at Música y Danza Exótica. Headlining this event will be Eduardo Mendonça, a recording artist, vocalist, composer, percussionist, guitarist and former Grammy nominee. News:On May 18, 2006 David Hoang showed his group of paintings and drawings, titled "Transfigured" at the SOURCE presentations. His work was based from narritives of the Roman Catholic, Jewish, Byzantine, and Eastern Orthodox traditions; as well as signs and symbols from early Midieval art.

"Van Winkelmann Labs: Testing the Untestable for Thirty-Six Years" is a culmination of his work toward his degree in a master of fine arts. His work is inspired by Dada artists from the turn of the 20th century and old science fiction movies. News:Justin Beckman is a founding member of PUNCH. PUNCH is the newest artist-run gallery to open in the Tashiro Kaplan arts complex in downtown Seattle. The gallery will open with two concurrent exhibitions of member work, followed by solo exhibitions of each member's work. "Round One" runs from April 6-30 with the opening reception April 6, 2006 from 5-8pm. "Round Two" runs from May 4-May 28 with the opening reception May 4, 2006 from 5-8 pm. PUNCH is located at 119 Prefontane Place South, Seattle, WA 98104. All members of PUNCH have connections with CWU as either alumni, current students or faculty. News:CWU Ceramic Professor Stephen Robison has work in the 43rd Annual Ceramics Exhibit: CA 1013 Crossman Gallery at Univeristy of Wisconsin, Whitewater January 24 – February 20 - Longtime ceramic area Professor Charlie Olson retired in the spring of 2012 and will be featured in this retrospective exhibition along with a group of invited artists. News:Professor Maya Chachava’s artwork has been selected by juror, Jonathan Greene, for the Winter Edition of Studio Visit Magazine. Over 1900 individuals entered the competition and Maya is one of 290 artists who have been invited by Mr. Greene to participate. Scheduled to be released in late 2012, Studio Visit will be received by a total of 2000 galleries, museum curators, and art aficionados throughout the country.
