| News: | THE WEDDING SINGER, directed by David Gay, is honored with five Shuler Hensley Awards. The Shuler Hensley Award is for high school theatre and this year 39 high schools in the Atlanta area competed. Our Alpharetta High production of THE WEDDING SINGER was honored with nominations for Best Choreography, Best Supporting Actress - Lindsay Albano, Best Supporting Actor - Parker Rehklau, Best Orchestra, and Best Director. We also received a citation for having one of the best productions eventhough we were not nominated for Best Musical. |

| News: | David Gay, a third-year Master of Arts in Theatre Production candidate, reports that his recent production of "Guys and Dolls" at Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, GA garnered group and individual awards. "We entered an affiliate of the Jimmy awards - Shuler Hensley Awards," says Gay. "'Guys and Dolls' was nominated for
eight awards. We won for Orchestra and our Miss Aidelaide moves to the Jimmy awards this spring. Keep your fingers crossed - the winner gets $100,000 to attend the New York school of her choice."

| News: | Ian Stacy has won this year's Best Overall Paper prize from the Phi Alpha Theta Northwest regional conference for his paper entitled "Under an Atomic Sky: Origins of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation's Infamous Green Run." As a result of winning this award, Ian is now able to present this work at the AHA-PCB conference, to be held in August in Pasadena. So congratulations to Ian!

| News: | The newly-formed, Nothwest Flute Consort (including the CWU Flute Choir and over 30 professional flutists from around the Northwest) will perform a free concert in the State Capitol Rotunda in Olympia on May 13 at 2:00 p.m. Hal Ott will conduct and has served as coordinator. The program is divided into three segments: world/folk music, classical music, and jazz (featuring some notable jazz flutists throughout the region such as CWU alumni Matt Schneider as well as Bob Esperanza, Tom Russell, Nancy Curtis, Ann Linquist, andFronda Woods). The variety of styles presented will certainly appeal to a large audience. One of the most exciting things about this program is the inclusion of three contrabass flutes. |
