Career Services Associate Director Receives National AwardSeptember 14, 2009 ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Randy Williamson, Central Washington University’s associate director of Career Services, was given an Outstanding Career Practitioner award from the National Career Development Association (NCDA) at the national conference in St. Louis, Missouri, this summer. The NCDA promotes career development with services such as development activities, publications, research and advocacy. Since 2003, Williamson has helped lead Career Services and impacted the lives of CWU students. He’s spent more than 10 years in the department and 21 years total at CWU. “Randy is dedicated to serving students, staff, faculty and the campus community,” said Career Services Director Jaqualyn Johnson. “Randy’s strong sense of responsibility, insight and innovative ideas have moved Career Services forward in preparing students for the global and competitive arena.” As part of his duties at CWU, Williamson manages the Cooperative Education program, an educational partnership with the public sector, industry, professional groups, and the communities surrounding CWU campuses. Through his work, he has nurtured and maintained an extensive network of professionals and employers who often provide direction and internship support for CWU students. Williamson also presents workshops related to resumes and cover letters, interviewing, job search, educational placement files and cooperative education, and he assists undergraduates, graduates and alumni in the career development process. “Randy has been a consistent mentor and model for many students,” added Johnson. “He goes the distance with each challenge and opportunity and strives to do his best under all circumstances. “ For more information on Career Services at CWU, visit www.cwu.edu/~career.
