Introduction

You yourself have just graduated from college with a degree in health and physical education. The new school year is just about to start and you are finally getting the chance to teach in your very own health classroom. It is officially your job to teach to your students about leading a healthy lifestyle and why health and nutrition is so important as a part of your daily life. It is going to be your job to teach your about healthy nutrition options as well as ideas for different types of exercise, and maybe even health risks someone may be looking at if they don't lead a healthy lifestyle

Task

Your job is to create a booklet that is dedicated to healthy food and exercise options. Your booklet needs to be colorful and involve words, explanations and pictures so that your students can easily understand what the booklet is trying to tell them. You may create this booklet anyway that you would like, using print outs, glue, staples, hand written explanations or even typed explanations. There must be enough information so that students are able to view multiple healthy nutrition options for different meals of the day, as well as an array of work out opportunities.

It is your job to utilize your resources; you may use the internet, the library or even books that are found in our health classroom.

The Process

When putting together your booklet you may want to ask yourself:

~What are some healthy food options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack time?
~Is this physical activity that I want to engage in myself?
~Do I have different types of foods that anyone can enjoy?
~Am I thinking of lifetime activities such as walking, running, or bike riding?
~Am I involving too many sports?
~What does a healthy meal consist of?
~What are the rules for eating healthy? How times a day should I eat? Portion sizes? etc...
~Food Pyramid?
~ How often should you work out?
~ What does being healthy really consist of?
~Am I at risk?

You are creating this booklet so that a person can start to lead a healthy lifestyle. You want to be a role model!

Resources

Here are some resources for your use. These might help you find information to you use in your booklet, you may also use other resources that you find on your own, just make sure that you have a page that lists all of your resources. Other great places to find information maybe the school library, local library, or from books in the classroom. Don't limit yourself!
