Heather Babbitt is an active horn instructor and performer throughout the Northwest. She has been adjunct horn instructor at Whitman and Walla Walla Colleges, while teaching private students throughout Washington state. Heather has held positions with several professional ensembles, including: Mr. Jack Daniel’s Silver Cornet Band, Wheeling Symphony, Starling Chamber Orchestra, Yakima Symphony and Federal Way Symphony. In 2001, she won the orchestral excerpt competition at the Northwest horn workshop in Eugene, Oregon. Heather earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York and studied Horn Performance for two years at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music with renowned teacher, Randy Gardner. Other teachers have included Duanne Dugger, William Bernatis and Guido Corti.
Mark Babbitt is assistant professor of trombone at Central Washington University. He is the winner of a number of important solo competitions such as the 1999 National Solo Trombone Competition (Washington, D.C.) and the 2004 Awards Tour Competition (Seattle, WA). Mark has appeared as soloist in recent years with the Everett Symphony, Tacoma Youth Orchestra, Chelan Bach Fest, and the Columbia Basin Symphonic Band. He has performed with numerous orchestras across the country including: Seattle Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Cincinnati Ballet, Erie Philharmonic, Chautauqua Symphony, Tri-Cities Opera. Mark earned degrees in trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music (B.M.), Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M.), and the University of Washington (D.M.A.).
