ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION: THE PRE-SERVICE CONNECTION REGIONAL CONFERENCE

EVENT PURPOSE: Goal 2, Objective 1 of SEEP EPA grant

The purpose of the conference was for science methods professors in colleges of education throughout the Pacific Northwest to share how they prepare their pre-service teachers to have the skills, confidence, and enthusiasm to teach environmental and sustainability education. A special emphasis was on environmental education in the built environment and discussing its connection to the natural environment. Participants could watch pre-service teachers in action teaching an outdoor environmental day at Deer Park.

It is hoped that this regional event may lead to a similar national event if funding can be found.
