Educational Outreach/Family Programming Chuck started with Performance Riverside in the summer of 1987. He joined the staff as Propmaster/Shop Foreman in 1988. He has directed productions of Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Book, Hercules, and A Christmas Carol for Performance Riverside's Family Series. Since 1990, Chuck has run Performance Riverside's School Outreach Program. Over the past 15 years, close to 220,000 children from throughout Southern California and beyond have visited Riverside Community College's Landis Performing Arts Center on school field trips to see live theatre. In 2001, the Inland Theatre League honored Chuck Abernathy with a Special Award for Outstanding Work with the School Outreach Program at Riverside Community College/Performance Riverside.

I truely miss my friends from CWU. My academic record was abyssmal, but I got great training from Dr. Richard Leinaweaver, Dr. Betty Evans, Dr. Milo Smith, Jim Hawkins, and Katherine Hartzell in the theatre. I especially enjoyed being in om the ground floor of the Lake Chelan/Laughing Horse theatre programs, in the first show in the Tower Theater (Seascape, 1981). In a sense, it was a lost weekend that lasted three years, but the friends I loved there, both students, and on staff, meant the world to me...all closer and dearer to me than family. Without them, I would have been lost, and would never have had the life I love.

I am currently a speech therapist/vocal coach in Boise Idaho. I am co-founder of the theater production company Daisy's Madhouse and member of the professional fusion dance troupe Mazana.
