LAURA MUNSON REINSTATLER (Costume Technology
and Design) has always been fascinated by the woven and stitched structure
and can't remember a time when she didn't have a needle, thread, and
fabric close by. She earned her degree in Art with a Textile Emphasis
from the University of Washington, a course of study including art
principles, textile design, history, and science. Upon graduation,
she apprenticed with weaver Jette Nevers in Denmark. In 1980 Reinstatler
began a career in quiltmaking and wearable art, including designing,
exhibiting, teaching, writing and editing. Her work is featured in
national and international publications and collections. Most recently,
Reinstatler has designed and built costumes for high school, college,
and community productions including The Three Musketeers, Kiss
Me Kate, Pirates of Penzance, Fiddler on the Roof, Bamboozled, Trial
by Jury, and Brigadoon. In her first season at CTE,
she designed costumes for both The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
and Fool of the World. This season, she will design costumes
for Hard Times. |
