TCP/IP PRINTER SETUP DIRECTIONS
These directions explain how to add a network printer on a Windows 2000 or
NT computer in order to print SQR reports directly to the printer. The
first thing you will need is the IP address to the networked printer. You
can get that by printing a test page on the printer. After you have the
IP address, do the following on the workstation:
Windows 2000:
- Start, Settings, Printers
- Double-click Add Printer
- Select next
- Select Local Printer
- Uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer
- Select Next
- Select Create a new port
- Change Type to Standard TCP/IP Port
- Select Next twice
- Add IP address to Printer Name or IP Address box (port name
automatically fills in)
- Select Next
- Select Finish
- Select the proper printer and select Next (NOTE: If the printer was
previously used as a network printer, it should already be in the
list. If it is not listed, you may have to download a printer driver.)
- Name the printer whatever you want (this is the name you will use
when you print sqr reports) or leave it as is. (NOTE: I named mine "Lobby
Printer" and when I print an sqr report directly to the printer, I only
have to put Lobby Printer in the file command line. Please make sure the
user knows the name of the printer you set up this way.)
- Select Next
- Select Do not share this printer and Next
- Select Yes to print a test page and Next
- Select Finish
- Confirm Test Page did print.
Windows NT:
- Confirm Microsoft TCP/IP printing is installed.
- Start, Settings, Printers
- Double-click Add Printer
- Select next
- Select Local Printer
- Select Next
- Select Add Port
- Select LPR Port
- Add IP address to Printer Name and IP Address
- Select OK
- Select Close
- Select Next
- Select the proper printer and select Next (NOTE: If the printer was
previously used as a network printer, it should already be in the
list. If it is not listed, you may have to download a printer driver.)

when you print sqr reports) or leave it as is. (NOTE: I named mine "Lobby
Printer" and when I print an sqr report directly to the printer, I only
have to put Lobby Printer in the file command line. Please make sure the
