SPAM issue

Getting a lot of spam lately (more so than usual)? No, it’s not an April fool’s joke; many people at CWU have reported getting hundreds of spam messages just within the past day or so with most of these advertising weight loss.

The IT department is currently working on finding who is sending these messages so we can block them at the server level.

In the meantime you have a couple of options for dealing with the SPAM:

1. You can tighten your SPAM preferences via the Spam Gateway to cut down on the volume of these messages until that happens. For instructions on using the Precise Mail Anti-Spam gateway, please visit http://www.cwu.edu/~itstraining/
pminst.html

2. You can write a rule on your account to filter all incoming messages tagged with SPAM to go to your trash where it will stay for 10 days (giving you time to claim anything legitimate) before deleting itself. Instructions for writing this rule are at: http://www.cwu.edu/~itstraining/
