Goal: The goal of this project is to
design at least a two hour to half day inservice presentation appropriate
for delivery to school personnel. The project should be in sufficient enough
detail that you or your colleagues should be able to pick up the packet
and be able to deliver the inservice with a minimal amount of additional
preparation and planning.
Contents of Inservice Project:
The topic of the inservice must be one that is
relevant for teachers and/or other school personnel. Ultimately, the topic
should be one that will provide direct or indirect benefits to school-age
students. Please clear your topic with the instructor
begin so that there are no duplicate topics.
You must conduct a detailed review of the literature
and research on your chosen topic.
You must interview a school psychologist or school
counselor regarding your topic to get their reactions regarding the relevance
and recommended content of the inservice, as well as any other helpful
hints they may have for you.
All the materials for the inservice must be presented
in a packet to the instructor at the end of the quarter (May 19, 2003).
These materials should all be well organized and professional in appearance.
You are expected to make a enough copies of your inservice packet for every
class member and the instructor (and yourself). Please let me know
well in advance if this will pose an economic hardship for you.
Presentation of Inservice Project:
A detailed rationale for the inservice, based
on a review of the research and interview. Include references from the
research to support the rationale. This should include a brief script of
how the rationale for this inservice could be presented at a faculty meeting
or school board meeting.
Logistical details, including intended audience,
length of inservice, materials needed, room requirements, etc.
Detailed outline of the inservice, to be used
by the presenter/consultant.
Briefer, general outline for the inservice participants.
Script of presented material/lecture.
Description of each activity or media (i.e. videos)
to be presented.
Copy of all handouts for participants.
List of APA style references.
Title/cover page and section dividers as needed.
Students are expected to present an overview
of their inservice project in class on May 19, 2003 (and June 2nd,
if more time is needed).
Presentations should be approximately 25 minutes
in length and should be clear, concise, well organized, and informative.
The inservice project and presentation are
worth a total of 100 pts. The instructor will evaluate your project/presentation
