Connie Robinson

Background

I joined the Department of Sociology at CWU in September 2007 after receiving my PhD from the New School for Social Research (New York, NY) in May 2007. At CWU, I teach Principles of Sociology, Social Problems, Social Change, and Social Conflict.

My major fields of study are historical sociology and political sociology. I focus mainly on nationalism, conflict, and globalization with a sub-interest in democratization in newly formed states. Currently, as a follow on to my dissertation, I am working on a book-length social movement analysis of the Yugoslav Committee, a émigré group instrumental in the formation of Yugoslavia during World War I. In addition, I am starting a research project that explores how globalization influences ethnic and national conflict.
