Welcome to the webpage of the department of sociology at Central Washington University.
Sociology is a popular major at CWU. We have on average about 150 majors per year. Both first-year and transfer students consider sociology as a good, solid liberal arts major that provides a strong foundation for careers in human/social services, research, education, business, and a variety of professions. Our programs offer a high degree of flexibility in meeting both individual educational and career goals. Students may pursue a major or a minor in both Sociology and Social Services, and a minor in Ethnic Studies Program.
We are undergoing transition and change. Curriculum revision and the addition of new faculty to replace those who retire or leave us have long term impact on our programs. We are excited about change and will continue to transform an already good department to a truly outstanding one. We invite you to become part of the transition and change.
