A Great Way to Learn About Software: SETC Webinars

Webinars are now available for clock hours! You must take at least three one-hour webinars in the course of the school year to be eligible for clock hours since the minimum number of hours that can be earned is three. The SETC will track the number of webinar clock hours you accumulate over the year and will report the final tally to you at the end of the year. If, at that time, you wish to register for those clock hours we will send you the appropriate form.

This year the Special Education Technology Center will continue offering FREE webinars on various software topics. Beginning in October of 2007 these webinars will occur every Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30 and last for 45 min to 1 hour. Most of these presentations will be introductory level. These webinars are made possible at no cost through use of the Washington Education Association (WEA) Sonexis webinar system. Webinars can be joined from any Windows-based computer (school, home or other) where you have Internet access and a telephone.

For those who are not familiar with webinars they work like this:

  1. Check our Upcoming Classes page for a list of offerings - look under location and it will be listed as Internet.

  2. E-mail Doris at the SETC office to register hayashid@cwu.edu, please include the title and date of each webinar for which you wish to register, put Webinar in the e-mail subject line.

Prior to your first webinar on the WEA system you need to install some software on your computer. If using a school district computer, you may need to enlist the aid of your district tech support to accomplish this since many networks require administrative privilege for download and installation. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR TECH SUPPORT STAFF AT LEAST ONE WEEK AHEAD TO ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME FOR THIS INSTALLATION.

Click the webinar software installation link for instructions on how to download and install the required software.

  3. Login a few minutes prior to the start of the webinar using the information below:
