Description:
A visual learning tool that inspires students to develop ideas and organize thinking. Inspiration provides students with tools that let them create pictures of their ideas or concepts in the form of a diagram. It also provides an integrated outlining environment so they can develop their ideas into organized written documents.
Level: Suitable for all ages (However, Kidspiration is recommended for students in grades K-3.)
Purpose: Visual learning helps students:
- Clarify thinking - Students see how ideas are connected and realize how information can be grouped or organized. New concepts are more thoroughly and easily understood.
- Reinforce understanding - Students recreate, in their own words, what they've learned. This helps them to absorb and internalize new information, giving them ownership of their ideas.
- Integrate new knowledge - Diagrams update throughout a lesson, which prompts students to build upon prior knowledge and integrate new information.
- Identify misconceptions - Just as a concept map or web shows what students know, misdirected links or wrong connections reveal what they don't understand.
- Allows non-readers to express their ideas and enhance their diagrams with included picture libraries containing over 1,250 high-resolution images.
- Connect directly to the internet by just typing in a web address; Inspiration automatically creates a hyperlink. JPG and GIF images can be dragged and dropped straight from the web.
- Begin assignments quickly with ready-made templates or teacher and student created templates.
