Dragon Naturally Speaking

Description:

A voice recognition program that allows you to talk to the computer instead of typing. You can write as fast as you speak while talking in a natural manner to your PC. Text can be created at a rate of up to 160 words per minute once the computer is trained to your voice. Voice training takes approximately 5 to 15 minutes on a PC with a Pentium III processor or equivalent. It is very helpful for students with limited ability to write in a conventional manner. A headset is included.

Level: Voice recognition works best with mature voices ages 12 through adult.

Purpose:

Voice Recognition allows a student who has difficulty writing in conventional ways to express thoughts on paper with a minimum amount of error and spelling correction.

Question #1: What type of student is this program suited for?
Answer #1: A student should:
Have consistent, reasonably mature and articulated speech.
Be able to formulate and organize thoughts in his/her mind before speaking them.

Question #2: Will it work with a Macintosh?
Answer #2: Voice recognition will work on a Mac with the ViaVoice or iListen programs, but in our experience these programs have not proved to be as effective or as easy to use as Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Question #3: Will it work on a laptop?
Answer #3: It will work on a laptop with minimum specifications as listed above.
