Need 15 students to work 6-12 hours per week. *Work-Study/*Non-Work-Study
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide individual or small group tutoring to students in Basic
& Breadth classes.
- Assist students in understanding course
content and developing effective study skills.
- Meet with professors, tutoring staff, Disability Support Services staff,
and other CWU professionals to develop effective tutoring strategies
for each student.
- Enroll in one-credit tutor training course, leading to tutor certification
through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). CRLA tutor
certification is recognized nationally and is transferable from college to
college.
Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed:
- Prefer students with several courses in their major or minor. To be
eligible to tutor in a particular course, students must have received a
grade of at least B+ in that course or in a higher-level course that covers
the same material in more depth.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 2.7.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and study skills.
Ability to work well with a diverse student population.
- Dependability, ability to work independently.
