Endorsement ProgramsBiologyThis major satisfies the criteria for an endorsement in biology and qualifies students to teach biology at the high school, middle school or junior high levels. Students should seriously consider working toward endorsement in a second area such as chemistry, earth science, general science, physics, or mathematics. Students taking this major are required to complete the professional education program requirements offered through the education department. Students completing this program are required to pass the WEST-E (PRAXIS II) exam for biology to receive a biology endorsement. For courses in the Biology Teaching major click here. ChemistryThis major satisfies the criteria for an endorsement in chemistry. This major qualifies students to teach chemistry at the high school, middle or junior high levels. Students should seriously consider working toward endorsement in a second area, such as biology, general science, earth science, physics, or mathematics. Students taking For courses in the Chemistry Teaching major click here. Earth ScienceThis major satisfies the criteria for an endorsement in Earth science. It does not constitute preparation for a career in geology. The Earth Science major qualifies students to teach earth science at the high school level and the middle or junior high school level. Students should seriously consider working toward endorsement in a second area, such as biology, chemistry, general science, physics or mathematics. Earth science majors are required to complete the professional education Program requirements offered through the education department. Students completing this program are required to pass the WEST-E (PRAXIS II) exam for Earth science to receive a Washington State teaching endorsement in Earth science. For courses in the Earth Science major click here. PhysicsThis major satisfies the criteria for a teaching endorsement in physics, qualifying students to teach physics at the high school and middle school and junior high level. Students should seek a teaching endorsement in a second area such as biology, chemistry, earth science, broad area science, or mathematics. Students taking this major for teacher certification are required to complete the professional education program requirements offered through the education department.
