Scholarship Central : Prospective Freshman Students |
Tuition WaiversTo recognize the academic achievement of talented entering freshmen, CWU awards merit-based tuition waivers to selected students who are admitted to Central each year and who will start school in the upcoming fall. The tuition waivers are based on the applicants' Admissions Index and are awarded starting on February of each year. Students with an AI equal to or greater than 40 and equal to or smaller than 54 are eligible to receive up to $1,200. Students with an AI equal to or greater than 55 and equal to or smaller than 79 can receive up to $2,400. Students with an AI equal to or greater than 80 can receive up to $3,600. These partial waivers will be granted for the first year of attendance only. You can calculate your Admissions Index by using the: Admissions Index (AI)Calculator.There is no application to complete in order to be considered for tuition waivers. ScholarshipsTo apply for CWU scholarships visit the CWU scholarship web site at http://www.cwu.edu/~scholar/ . You will find the CWU General Scholarship Application Guidelines available from October 1st to February 1st every year. They provide information and detailed instructions on how to complete the electronic application. The deadline to submit the application to the Scholarship Office, and additional materials (when necessary) is on or before February 1 every year. Talent AwardsThe Athletic Department offers aid based on athletic ability to academically qualified students. Individual coaches identify recipients through their recruiting process. The scholarships offered by the Departments of Music and Theater Arts are available to both entering and currently enrolled students at CWU. For more information, visit their respective department websites. Financial AidNew students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Financial Aid Office priority deadline of March 1 each year to be considered for need-based tuition waivers and scholarships. Entering freshmen who meet the merit-based AI requirement and have need as calculated by the Federal Need Analysis Formula will receive a comparable need-based tuition waiver. New students who qualify for a tuition waiver through the admission process will not receive a duplicate need-based award. |
